As “Dianne” I am an English professor. But as “Dinah" -- the name my parents have always called me -- I write books for young people like you and visit schools all around the country. I write about lots of the things I love: my family, my dolls, and African American history. I love starting with a blank white page, using my imagination, and finally having a book to share with my friends of every age and background.

And I always remember what Frederick Douglass told us:
